|About the Book|
Set in the 6th Century AD and in the words of its narrator “…since the ending of all governance by Rome some two hundred years ago, Britain is again parcelled into many realms and races…” Celts, Picts, Albanns and Scots, and the incoming Anglians and Saxons. Against this fragile and dangerous background are set personal and individual relationships ranging from the slave-born boy who ventures overseas to the eventual first known King of Scots, from an apparently plain Breton monk to the spread of Christianity through that extraordinary Irish exile Columba and the founding of his monastery on the island of Iona. And the Ring itself? Symbolic, perhaps, of the gaining of wisdom through awareness of the self.
